应水资源与环境学院冯传平教授邀请,美国南佛罗里达大学(University of South Florida)土木与环境工程系Sarina J. Ergas教授将来我校进行学术交流,并做学术报告,具体安排如下:

 

题    目: A novel shortcut nitrogen removal process using an algal-bacterial

                consortium in a photo-sequencing batch reactor

报告内容摘要: Treatment and discharge of high ammonia strength wastewater, such as industrial wastewater, centrate from anaerobic digestion of domestic, industrial and agricultural wastes and landfill leachate, result in serious environmental problems due to the toxicity of free ammonia to aquatic life. This study investigated a hybrid microalgal photosynthesis/shortcut nitrogen removal process in a photo-sequencing batch reactor (PSBR) with alternating light and dark periods. In this process, microalgal photosynthesis provides oxygen for nitritation during the light period. With addition of an organic carbon source during the dark period, the reactor removed over 90% total nitrogen (TN) without aeration other than mixing. The high concentrations of ammonia and nitrite and low dissolved oxygen concentration in the PSBR effectively inhibited nitrite oxidizing bacteria, resulting in stable nitritation. Additional experiments were carried out with anammox bacteria integrated into the system, which eliminated the need for organic carbon addition.

 

Sarina J. Ergas 教授简介: Sarina J. Ergas美国南佛罗里达大学工程学院土木与环境工程系教授。主要从事污水处理、营养物去除、膜生物反应器、生物修复、厌氧消化、生物截留和藻类生物燃料系统等生物处理过程的研究。作为主要负责人,完成和承担(美国)国家科学基金会项目、佛罗里达Aquaculture Research Council项目、Norwegian Research Council项目等二十余项。在Environmental Science & Technology、Water Research、Bioresource Technology、Algal Research和Journal of Hazardous Materials等期刊上发表论文54篇,参加学术会议190余次和邀请会议45次。
