Beijing Women's Federation organized a symposium on October 27 to guide women from various industries across the city to study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The CPC congress was held in Beijing from October 18-24, during which Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, remarked that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.
Cai Qi, secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, put forward a series of specific requirements regarding the publicity of the congress spirit.
Jing Junhai, vice-secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, attended the symposium and explained the efforts that have been made to promote the congress spirit.
Jing said Beijing Municipal Party Committee held two meetings from October 25-26 to convey the spirit of the congress, and the first Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, respectively, after the closing of the twice-a-decade event.
Jing said that Beijing Women's Federation has shown its high political stance by organizing the symposium. Women across the city have paid particular attention to the CPC congress, he added.
Women's work is an important part of the Party's mass work. Studying and implementing the congress spirit is the federation's primary political task from now on, the official announced.
After the symposium, Jing urged attendees to "remain true to their original aspiration and keep their mission in mind"; seriously study the congress spirit to promote Xi's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Beijing; and, work tirelessly to the realization of the "Chinese Dream" of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Cai Shumin, president of Beijing Women's Federation, said she was greatly inspired by Jing's instructions on how to better promote the congress spirit.
The 19th CPC congress was held during a decisive stage in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and at a critical moment as socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.
In particular, before the opening session of the CPC congress, the Party leadership group of the federation released the Work Plan on Studying, Publicizing and Implementing the Spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress , Cai Shumin explained.
Aside from this, the federation has positively held various activities including an exhibition featuring the country's achievements and development over the past five years and educational activities on the theme of the CPC congress.
In addition, the federation has taken advantage of the Internet and new media platforms to publicize remarks from role models across the city and collect opinions of residents about the report delivered at the CPC congress, so as to raise local women and families' enthusiasm for studying the congress spirit.
Cai Shumin said that the federation has led women to closely follow the leadership of the Party by guiding them to study the congress spirit and encouraging them to play their part in families and society in the new era.
Li Biyou, deputy secretary-general of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, and Li Yanlai, director of the Office of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, also attended the event.
Accordingly, around 70 people participated in the symposium included representatives of the delegates to the 19th CPC congress from Beijing; National and Beijing's March 8th Red-banner Holders; women's committees and women groups of democratic parties; executive members of Beijing Women's Federation; grassroots women workers; and, those from online fields and new economic and social organizations as well as women's federation officials across the city.
At the symposium, some participants talked about their understanding of the report in combination with their own fields as well as how to exert women's wisdom and strength in this new era.
Chief judge Liu Li talked about how to implement the congress spirit and perform a delegate's duties well as a grassroots judicial cadre.
Pan Ruifeng, secretary of the Party committee in a community in Beijing's Xicheng District, said she was greatly inspired to attend the CPC congress as a grassroots worker and talked about her efforts to help residents gain a sense of fulfillment.
Zhou Ye, a sign-language interpreter, shared her feeling as she was responsible for the live translation of Xi's report during the opening session of the CPC congress, as well as her endeavors to promote special education.
Gao Yuan, a policewoman, who is also a part-time vice-president of the federation, spoke about what she has done to improve the federation's influence online.
Business founder Cheng Jing talked about her efforts to lead women in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Liu Meijun, president of the women's federation in Beijing's Tongzhou District, spoke about officials' dedications to the development of the sub-center of the city.
Lu Yongli, headmaster of Beijing Second Experimental Primary School, discussed how to promote positive family traditions and include family education into school's education as well as give full play to the exemplary role of national civilized families.
