怀俄明大学能源学院Northam院长访问我校

9月17日，美国怀俄明大学能源学院院长Mark A. Northam博士访问我校，谭天伟校长和王贵副校长分别会见了Northam院长。谭天伟校长与Northam院长就世界能源发展、能源学科建设、能源技术研究等方面进行了广泛的交谈。

下午2点，Northam院长在多功能厅作题为“Energy outlook from Wyoming/USA”的报告，理学院院长李殿卿教授主持了Northam院长的报告会。Northam院长介绍了怀俄明州煤藏量和产量居美国首位、铀藏量居美国第二位的丰富能源资源及其对怀俄明经济的影响与未来规划，介绍了怀俄明地区天然气、页岩气和风能的开发使用状况，以及针对能源开发利用展开的科学研究和高校教育。Northam院长精彩的报告结束后，与会的教师及学生关于能源的可持续发展、美国能源结构政策和技术、煤燃烧过程带来的硫氮氧化物的污染及避免措施等方面进行了提问，Northam院长一一作出详细回答，报告会结束前，全场以热烈的掌声感谢Northam院长的精彩报告和解答。

报告会后，Northam院长、Maohong Fan教授与我校部分师生进行了进一步的座谈交流。国际教育学院院长刘广青、理学院副院长万平玉、化工资源有效利用国家重点实验室主任何静、理学院教授宋宇飞、陈咏梅、化工学院教授杨晓进、青年教师冯俊婷、陈畅、唐阳等参加座谈，就相关科研工作、研究方向、研究生培养等展开交流。

Dr Mark A. Northam简介

Dr. Mark A. Northam earned a Ph.D. degree in Organic Geochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Wake Forest University.

Dr. Mark A. Northam is the founding Director of the School of Energy Resources at the University of Wyoming. He came to the university after a year and a half with Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia where he worked as a Research Science Consultant in the areas of Carbon Management and Technical Intelligence at the Research and Development Center. Prior to joining Saudi Aramco, Mark worked for over twenty years at Mobil and ExxonMobil, holding a variety of research, operations, and management positions in the US and Europe.

Dr. Northam is a world-class expert in a number of energy technology areas and has successfully directed and participated in various domestic and international advanced technology developments. He is also an internationally recognized leader in mapping future energy technology development directions.
